USERRA Discrimination

One of the greatest missions a person can undertake in life is to serve in the United States armed forces. In some instances, this requires that military personnel take a leave of absence from their normal jobs. When that happens, it can put a strain on an employer.

But thanks to safeguards that have been put in place through the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA), federal law prohibits discrimination against members of the military based on past, current and future service. It also requires military service members to be reemployed after they have been discharged from service or return from military activities.

Members of the military can call upon the U.S. Department of Labor for help by filing a claim, but to ensure that the case is properly handled, it’s best to look into hiring an attorney experienced in dealing with USERRA cases. And in the greater Miami area, that attorney should be The Law Offices of Randy Fleischer.

Like many others, Mr. Fleischer has the requisite professional experience to assist our men and women returning home from active duty who encounter reemployment issues.

But what sets him apart is that Mr. Fleischer also has devoted his life outside of his practice to resolving cases and larger policy issues regarding not just USERRA discrimination but all forms of employment discrimination. He is a well-known and a respected guest commentator on the subject and at one point, he even hosted his own radio show on employee rights.

Mr. Fleischer also served many years as the Chair of the Broward County Human Rights Board and spent time as the Chair and Vice Chair of Broward District’s School Board Diversity Committee. He served board terms on the Florida Employment Lawyers Association and National Employment Lawyers Association Affiliate Relations Committee.

The Law Offices of Randy A. Fleischer, P.A. proudly serves Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Davie, Sunrise, Plantation, Weston and surrounding Florida communities. For an initial consultation contact us at 954-472-8401.
